If e(cos2x+cos4x+cos6x+⋯∞)ln2 satisfies the equation t2−9t+8=0, then the value of sinx+3cosx2sinx, 0<x<2π, is:

Official solution
cos2x+cos4x+⋯=1−cos2xcos2x=cot2x, so the expression is 2cot2x.
t2−9t+8=0⇒t=1,8. Since 2cot2x≥1 automatically, both are possible, but t=1 gives cot2x=0 and t=8 gives cot2x=3.
Taking cot2x=3 (i.e. cotx=3):
\[\frac{2\sin x}{\sin x+\sqrt{3}\cos x} = \frac{2}{1+\sqrt{3}\cot x} = \frac{2}{4} = \frac12.\]
