Let S be the set of all (α,β), π<α,β<2π, for which the complex number 1+2isinα1−isinα is purely imaginary and 1−2icosβ1+icosβ is purely real. Let Zαβ=sin2α+icos2β,(α,β)∈S. Then (α,β)∈S∑(iZαβ+iZαβ1) is equal to:

Purely imaginary condition: adding the expression to its conjugate and setting to zero gives 1−2sin2α=0⟹sinα=±21. In (π,2π): α=45π,47π.
Purely real condition: similarly gives cosβ=0, so β=23π in (π,2π).
\[S=\left\{\left(\frac{5\pi}4,\frac{3\pi}2\right),\left(\frac{7\pi}4,\frac{3\pi}2\right)\right\}.\]
For these, Zαβ=1−i and Zαβ=−1−i respectively.
\[\sum\left(iZ+\frac1{iZ}\right) = i(-2i)+\frac1i\cdot\frac1{1+i}+\frac1{-1+i} = 2+\frac1i\left(\frac{2i}{-2}\right)=1.\]
