Let A be the point (1,2) and B be any point on the curve x2+y2=16. If the centre of the locus of the point P, which divides the line segment \[\mathrm{AB}\] in the ratio 3:2 is the point C\[(\alpha, \beta)\], then the len...

We have, equation of circle is x2+y2=16
Let any point on the circle x2+y2=42 is B(4cosθ,4sinθ) and A(1,2)
Let P be (h,k) which divides AB in 3:2
So
h=3+212cosθ+2k=3+212sinθ+2×2⇒cosθ=125h−2 and sinθ=125k−4
As, cos2θ+sin2θ=1,(125h−2)2+(125k−4)2=1⇒(h−52)2+(k−54)2=52122∴ Locus of point P is (x−52)2+(y−54)2=52122
which is equation of circle with centre (52,54)
Hence, AC=(1−52)2+(2−54)2=545=535
