Official solution
Given line, 2x−1=3y−2=1z−3=λ .........(i)
∴ Any point on the line A(2λ+1,3λ+2,λ+3)
Since, line L pass through the point B(0,1,2) and intersects line (i)
∴ Direction ratio of AB are
0−2λ−1,1−3λ−2,2−λ−3−2λ−1,−3λ−1,−λ−1
Line L parallel to the plane 2x+y−3z=4∴2(−2λ−1)+1(−3λ−1)−3(−λ−1)=0⇒−4λ−2−3λ−1+3λ+3=0⇒−4λ=0⇒λ=0∴AB=−1,−1,−11,1,1∴ Equation of line L is 1x−0=1y−1=1z−2=μ⇒x=μ,y=μ+1,z=μ+2∴ Direction ratios of PQ=μ−1,μ+10,μ
Since, PQ⊥L∴1(μ−1)+1(μ+10)+μ(1)=0⇒μ−1+μ+10+μ=0⇒3μ+9=0⇒μ=−3∴Q(−3,−2,−1)∴ Distance of the point P(1,−9,2) from the line L is
=(−3−1)2+(−2+9)2+(−1−2)2=16+49+9=74
